The 2012 Passat is good news. It will make the 2009/2010/2011 Passat's resale value drop.
Let the sheeple "upgrade" to the better, uhm, newer model.

I was always under the impression that it was Avie Tevanian that was the brains behind NeXT and OS X, even though he left Apple in 2006.

They only reason the seller wouldn't clearly state is was a picture from the outset was to deceive potential buyers. 'Nuff said. Hopefully they'll get booted from eBay and paypal for wasting everyone's time.
Of course, whoever bids is a total moron, but no one deserves to profit off that.
I've seen worse though. Like an iPad auction with the selling waffling on about how great the device is in broken English, then saying it included accessories, and ending with "the iPad is here with me".

Now if this guy is not leaving to retire. Then RIP Apple.
Good grief, here comes the "Sky is falling!" crowd
Seriously, if Apple thinks I want my computer to resemble an overgrown iPad then they can loose my money and I'll be buying an Alienware.
Have fun with that.
Microsoft seem to be the only ones that still get computers?
Words are not sufficient to respond to this gem.
IMO you don't leave a massively successful company after 22 years without a reason unless your retiring.
Everyone likes to try new things. 22 years is a long time. Most of us would like to drop what we're doing and try something new. Unfortunately, unlike Bertrand, most of us don't have the money to do it.

What do you mean by binary format?
If you want to save values to a file you want to look up plists and how they can help you.

Just where everyone is thinking of heading. Also does anyone know how the Apple store is going to do things since it's inside the mall?

That is not connected to Windows on Mac so this is the wrong category. But to answer the question just drag the Office folder to the Dock on the right hand side of the Application/Folder break.

Torture is never justified under any circumstances and that includes sleep deprivation, ritual humiliation, or anything else that is euphemistically known as "Enhanced interrogation"
Fighting terrorists should be done no differently to fighting any other war (i.e. within the Geneva Convention).
How do we do that? They are a shadow organization bound by religious or political ideals with no true ties to any nation.
As a result there is no nation that we could go to war with or otherwise hold accountable for their actions.

EDIT: Looks like a TU issue. Ignore this thread.
Today, I updated my iPad 2 (Verizon) to 4.3.2. Before doing so, I ran tinyumbrella to save SHSH, and while it successfully saved the blob for 4.3.1, it gave me an error for 4.3.2: you are just too late.
How is this possible? Isn't 4.3.2 the current build? I successfully upgraded to 4.3.2, which means Apple must still be signing it. I ran tinyumbrella again post-upgrade; same error.
Am I doing something wrong?

Why does it take a media storm for Apple to open up on an issue ? It would be so much better if they more forthcoming and frank before an issue snowballs.

several things must be addressed by Apple in the current model:
...
Apple's results seem to imply that you could, conceivably, be wrong.

I wonder if Serlett's departure means more web focus since the new guy focused on the cloud? A new filesystem, being able to run web apps outside the browser, and a new UI would be nice for OSX an internet layer built in using webkit (if that is possible) would be 3 nice new features, and with the new guy Ferengi or Fedenrigh or whatever it could be possible?

Wow, the plot thickens.
I'm really curious if this will be just another "facelift" with a few bells and whistles like the .Mac -> MobileMe update.
I like the MobileMe website (even though I can't view it on my iPad...) but not much else has changed on the service since the .Mac days. Oh, there was the Calendar update which made my old iPhone no longer see my Calendar...
I have a Family Plan with 3 people on as well as extra disk space on MobileMe. I wonder if there will be similar structures to "Castle/iCloud"?
And "Rate up" on all the Miyazaki / Laputa references.

That would be you. I for example, did not mind when XM radio offered me a 50% off deal for "coming back".
Just let FT know you don't want to be bothered and let the rest of us get the 50% off deals.
If you don't know that you can negotiate a better deal when leaving or after you have left, and you rely on giving up your personal info in order to obtain such "benefits," you deserve what you get.
And to borrow your line of argument, let those of us who value our privacy stick with Apple, and you go enjoy Android and let FT and everyone else know everything about you.
